SAWYER STOUT GAINS CAVALCADE REDEMPTION AT SANDUSKY FAREWELL

SANDUSKY, OH (October 6, 2025) – As Sandusky Speedway reaches the end of a memorable 75-year history, it was Sawyer Stout (Norwalk, OH) creating yet another memory for the ACME Racing Team with a hard-fought victory in the 30-lap Team Willis Cavalcade main event for the Outlaw Supermodified 350 Series (OSS).  One year ago at the Cavalcade, it was Stout suffering mechanical woes and sitting on the sidelines as he saw his season championship hopes diminish and fall into the hands of Todd Buchanan (Castalia, OH).

This time around the determination was never more apparent. After capturing the Big and Little Carts ‘Let’s Celebrate 3’ third quick-time in qualifying (16.390), he transferred that to a sixth-place finish in Saturday night’s dash event to set up 7th-place starting position in the main event. He and his father Steve Stout went immediately to work for a Sunday-run on the one-half mile paved oval, with hopes of a strong season-ending finish.

That victory came to fruition, but not easily.

Immediately after the green flag flew on the 24-car field, disaster struck before one lap could be complete.  A tangle in turn four coming down to complete lap one brought the race to a halt. Once the scene was cleared, the field was regrouped and the battle for the lead between front row starters Griffin Miller (Oswego, NY) and A. J. Lesiecki (Bowling Green, OH) resumed with Lesiecki leading the field after one-lap and appearing to have the race until control

While he stretched his lead over the pack, the action behind him was intense, with drivers battling two-wide as they attempted to move forward.  By lap three, the Jim Valentine Fast Qualifer Award winner Mike Bruce (Oswego, NY) had moved forward from his 3rd starting spot to runner-up, with Miller, Danny Shirey (N. Ridgeville, OH), and Kenny Sharp (Port Clinton, OH) in pursuit.

A couple of minor skirmishes and another red-flag situation didn’t deter Lesiecki. A small break for him came on lap 15 when Bruce and Shirey were involved in a 3-car accident with J.D. Evans (N. Ridgeville, OH). The resulting restart found Miller back up front with Lesiecki, along with Stout in third, teammate J.J. Henes (LaGrange, OH) in fourth and D.J. Shullick (N. Ridgeville, OH) in fifth.

But the final caution of the day was the nemesis for Lesiecki, with five laps to go.  He chose the outside at the ‘choose cone’ while Stout, who had moved to runner-up chose the inside groove.  Lesiecki had the momentum off of turn two, but Stout mashed the pedal and shot into the head he was to hold to the checkered flag and victory over Lesiecki.  Henes, Miller and D.J. Shullick completed the top five.

Saturday night’s preliminary action found the Bruce winning the fast-car dash, while Brian’s Automotive/Gibson Hoosier Tire heat race wins went to Miller and Lesiecki.
