Fourteen cars took the green to start the Rogers Tire Service 30 lap feature. The 57 of Doug Neubauer was absent due to a failed fuel pump earlier in his heat race, the 2k of Kevin Mingus, due to an accident in his heat, and Kent McCloskey, was fighting ignition issues.
Right before the initial green, the 13 of Pat Mead, and the 22 of Sean Sauer both had issues that eliminated them from the event. On the green, the 5 of Todd Buchanan took the lead, followed by Stout and the 87 of Matt Demyan. From the back, Danny Shirey was working his way up passing on the outside by lap 8, the top 3 of Buchanan, Stout and Shirey had distanced themselves from 4th place runner Frank Neill. Stout finally got the best of Buchanan just before half way, with a move off of 2 and down the back stretch. After completing the pass in turn 3, the Stout 40 was on a rail , and pulled out to a half a track lead. Behind Stout the field remained intact to the finish, with Todd Buchanan in 2nd and Danny Shirey in third.
The Outlaw 350 Supermodified Sprint Series , presented by Greg Willis, Howard Hanna , will now take another couple weeks off, as we prepare to race the HyMiler Nationals at the end of July , again at Sandusky Speedway.
Jim Valentine Fast Time, and the $100 bonus, went to Frank Neill , with a time of 16.921. The time of Danny Shirey and the 38 was disallowed due to a tire rule infraction.
Race day notes: The 42 of Kent McCloskey battled with ignition problems all-day. Brian Neubauer had a fuel pump failure in his heat race. Kevin Mingus had a tangle with the back straight wall in his heat.. Pat Mead made his series debut , and had some fueling issues. Sean Sauer brought his repaired 22 back to the track after his unfortunate accident earlier this season at Sandusky. The same for the 7 of Doug Neubauer. After his scary flip at Flat Rock Speedway, the car was rebuilt and back in competition. Series regulars, McQuillen Racing , had a prior engagement and missed the show. Hopefully they will be ready for the race HyMiler weekend . Ed Cote was in the pits, and reports they are diligently working on his 39 roadster, piloted by Jason Wells. They are aiming for the next race, at HyMiler, for their return!
A VERY big thank you to Rogers Tire Service for supporting the event last night at Sandusky.
We also cannot forget to thank Kevin Jaycox, Kevin Jaycox Jr, and the entire staff at Sandusky Speedway for hosting.
And of course, THANK YOU RACE FANS!!
